Ronald Wolford Blair spent his childhood in Norwood, Ohio. He has strong family ties to Kentucky and is proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. He lived much of his life with his family in the Cincinnati uptown community, Clifton Gas Light District and is a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati.
“Wild Wolf: The Great Civil War Rivalry” is the author’s greatest of three contributions to history as it won the Kentucky Historical Societies most prestigious Publication Award. Another work, “Kentucky’s Civil War 1861-1865” won a Governor’s Award.” Ronald also contributed to a University of Kentucky Press/Kentucky Historical Society published book, “Kentucky Rising: Democracy, Slavery, and Culture from the Early Republic to the Civil War” written by his dear friends and colleagues Dr. James A. Ramage and Dr. Andrea Watkins.
Ronald is the biographer of his G,G,Uncle Col. Frank Lane Wolford Commander of the First Kentucky Cavalry.
Wild Wolf has been a lifetime in the making, and reveals Kentucky as well as nationally significant history never told in its entirety.
Published in historical magazines and newspapers such as the Cincinnati Enquirer and Lexington Herald, Ronald has discussed the Civil War issues with a panel of top constitutional attorneys on the nationally broadcasted Diane Rehm show. Most recent, the author tells a great summary of this historical revelation on an NPR interview on WVXU. Appearing on several TV and radio programs the author has lectured on the subject of Wolford and the Civil War at various educational institutions, historical societies, Civil War Round Tables in various cities, states from Atlanta to Gettysburg.
Ronald and Kathleen currently reside in the bluegrass, horse country of Lexington, Kentucky.

Anyone remotely interested in local south-central Ky Civil War history will appreciate the time, effort, and careful detail this brilliant author and descendant of Union First Ky Cavalry Colonel Frank Wolford has put into this unique story. For those fortunate to attend the lecture, it was a great opportunity to meet the author and glimpse into the past of a remarkable character chronicling history right in our own backyard.
